During the month of February, the Mater Residence in Mexico City is celebrating the 44th anniversary of its founding. This institution, which has become a true home for many elderly people, represents the fulfilled dream of the alumnae of Sacred Heart School.

On this anniversary, we recognize the work of many people who have made possible the existence and growth of the Mater Residence. Likewise, the management of the house, with a constant and decisive presence, has been key for this project to move forward, always with God’s blessing and the vocation to do good.

“I am no longer alone, as I have a group of friends and acquaintances. The activities nourish me spiritually and emotionally, learning or remembering things from the past. My hours have shortened, my days too; my walks in the afternoons contemplating the plants and trees make that time peaceful and nourish me with the wind that blows at that time. My daughters and I are very happy, as they see me happy and well cared for. For me, the Mater Residence is Paradise,” confesses Vicky, one of the residents.

Through this testimony, the purpose and essence of the Mater Residence is reflected: a home where each resident finds well-being, companionship and joy in the last stage of his or her life.
