Our mission springs from the very heart of our vocation and from the charism that God inspired in our Foundress, Saint Genoveva Torres Morales. From the very beginning, we have been called to live in the footsteps of Jesus and to dedicate our lives to serving others, especially those who experience loneliness, vulnerability or a need for companionship.
Saint Genevieve, who experienced first-hand the reality of loneliness and the complexities of life, sought to respond to this reality by dedicating her life to serving those most in need. Thus, from her experience of faith and her trust in the Heart of Jesus, a mission was born which we continue to live out faithfully today and to bring to life in our missions and communities.
What does it mean to be an Angelic Sister?
Be an Angelic Sister It means living from the heart, allowing the Lord to transform the way we see others and relate to them. That is why our mission is expressed in every place where we are called to serve and in every person we accompany.
At present, our mission spans various parts of Spain, Mexico, Venezuela and Colombia – places where we encounter different circumstances with specific needs, and where we strive to faithfully uphold the same spirit that has characterised our Congregation since its inception.
A significant part of our mission takes place in our care homes for elderly women, where we welcome and support women who may be living alone or in need of care and support. These are places of welcome, community and support, where we strive to ensure that every woman feels loved and valued, whilst respecting her autonomy and independence. In each residence, the women can bring their own belongings and furniture, thereby turning their room into, quite literally, their home. And that’s what makes all the difference!
Our commitment also extends to boys and girls living in vulnerable situations. At the soup kitchens in Bachaquero, Venezuela, and Calarcá, Colombia, We work to meet their needs, providing them with food and support, alongside opportunities for education and training. Furthermore, through our centres for spiritual retreat, our apostolate and vocational guidance, we also continue to offer opportunities to encounter God and grow in faith. These are different expressions of the same charism which invites us to put our gifts at the service of others and to discover, in every situation, how we can respond to the call we have received.
A Mission That Also Needs You
The mission that Saint Genevieve began is a living endeavour that we continue to build upon and expand every day, and one that also needs all those who wish to walk alongside us. Our work is made possible by the dedication of so many people who collaborate with us and who, in one way or another, share our desire to be close to those most in need. Their help enables us to continue supporting our projects and to keep responding to the needs we encounter in our communities.
That is why we would like to invite you to be part of it, by getting involved in one of our projects, providing financial support for their needs, sharing our work, or keeping us in your prayers. Every gesture of kindness helps us to continue carrying out the mission we have been entrusted with.
Today, just as we have been doing for over 100 years, we wish to remain faithful to the path set out for us by Saint Genevieve: to live in accordance with God’s love and to devote our lives to serving others. From our communities, our care homes, our canteens and each of our projects, we continue to answer that call.
